China Search Engine Ads Increasingly
Popular
BEIJING, Sept. 15 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Baidu.com, Inc. announced
today that the most expensive online ad in China was generated
on September 7, 2004. Shanghai SouBu Co. purchased a text link
ad on Baidu, the largest Chinese Internet search engine in the
world, for over USD157 (RMB1300) per character per day. The
old record was held by SINA, a Chinese Internet portal company,
which was USD139 (RMB1150) per character per day.
''The price of this online ad, RMB1300 per word per day, was
offered by the customer, and there are still many customers
who are waiting in line for this price,'' said Sheng Bi, Baidu's
spokesman.
''According to our studies, there is a
huge market for search engine ads in China,'' said Henry Yang,
General Manager at I Research, a well-known Internet research
company in China. ''It's not surprising that the most expensive
online ad in China appeared on Baidu, due to its unmatched
market advantages and the high investment return of search
engine ads.''
