Chin CHAO

Mr. Chao joined Venture TDF in 1999 and has responsibility for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities and for investment and divestment decisions. He also currently serves on the Investment Committee of Venture TDF China, Venture TDF's venture fund focused on China. Mr. Chao was also the co-founder and a key member of the management team of the TechFinancing Centre, a unit within OCBC Bank (formerly Keppel TatLee Bank) dedicated to providing innovative debt solutions to high-technology companies in Asia. Prior to joining Venture TDF, from 1996 to 1999, Mr. Chao was a corporate and licensing attorney at Fenwick and West LLP, a leading technology law firm in Silicon Valley, where his practice focused on representing and counseling high-growth technology companies and venture capital firms.

Mr. Chao received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He also has a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and is the author of three publications on technology and business law.



 
 
 
 
 

 

Thomas NG

Dr. Ng is the founder (1995) and Chairman of Venture TDF.   He also served as a Board member of NSTB from 1994 to 2001.   In addition to building his Singapore-based firm from scratch into a financial success with a multi-cross border investment strategy, he has been a major contributor in developing Singapore's national plan in high technology and venture capital.

Thomas served on a number of advisory boards to various research institutes and government agencies in Singapore.   He currently serves as a member of the Board of SAVI Technologies and 800Buy.com. Thomas has many years of management experience in the high-technology industry.  He has held senior management positions at E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. and Genelabs Technologies.  He established Genelabs Diagnostics, a biotechnology company, in Singapore in 1992 and served as its Managing Director until 1995.   Thomas has also conducted basic research at the Solar Energy Research Institute under the Department of Energy and the DuPont Experiment Station.   He has numerous publications and patents worldwide and currently holds three patents in practice. 

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. in bacteriology/biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
